lyrics
Lyrics written by Chris Davis.
*Lyrics: Here we are with arms wide-open, tied up at the wrists from either side, legs crossed over, as both are broken, the air in our lungs slowly subside, ‘Eloi, Eloi, lema sabachthani?’ One is on the left, one is on the right, one is on the... (I am no Christ) Save yourself and save us all, if you claim to be who you are, Do you not have fear of God? As you face the same condemnation, ‘Eloi, Eloi, lema sabachthani?’ One is on the left, one is on the right, one is on the... (I am no Christ) Join me, briefly as we enter into the fellowship of thieves, on this earth you'll claim to be one of these two, Tell me, which one are you?
*Synopsis: Compares and contrasts the two thieves beside Christ at the time of crucifixtion. Jesus Christ's persona is one of sacrifice. For Christians and non-belivers alike, His example is unique to His own and impossible to be achieved by anyone ever. No matter what we do, the common belief of most, is that of these two thieves. Their words are coined verbatim in the second verse. Being named Christopher "Follower of Christ" and having the backround that I have, many have looked to me in ways I could not give them what they needed. It was in my most desperate hour that I cried out in frustration of others association of me and George Bush, the war, etc. that I felt unfairly judged by some. Stating "I am no Christ!" is not a declaration but a proclamation of the two thieves shame that we all carry with us innately. This song title is obviously not a personal claim of having an Anti-Christ attitude.
